National Stroke Awareness Month Quiz

National Stroke Awareness Month Quiz

May is National Stroke Awareness Month, and what better way to celebrate than with an informative quiz?

A stroke is caused when a blood clot blocks an artery in the brain or when a blood vessel in the brain bursts. The brain does not receive oxygen and therefore cells begin to die, causing damage that results in a variety of issues. Up to 80% of strokes are preventable, so by taking the proper precautions, you can protect yourself!

Unfortunately, many of our patients come to us for help after experiencing a stroke. We assist them in their recovery by providing skilled nursing paired with occupational, speech, and physical therapy to retrain their body and brain.

Limb Loss Awareness Month Quiz

Limb Loss Awareness Month Quiz

April is a busy month for health education. Not only is it Occupational Therapy Month, but it’s also Limb Loss Awareness Month!

For some, this may seem random and unimportant. However, many people do not realize the dangers of amputation and loss of limb. They think that amputations only happen because of freak, traumatic accidents, such as the Boston Marathon bombing. What they don’t realize is that millions of Americans lose limbs every year to something as unlikely as diabetes.

Toes are the most common amputation in diabetics, but this can also lead to foot or entire leg amputations if the infected is not staved in time.

Limb loss education is extremely important in preventing amputation. A large number of amputations are completely preventable and occurred only because patients did not know proper limb care. Please take our quiz so you can educate yourself on limb loss and how to stop it from happening to you.
